Description of the activity

Imagen_UGR The International Doctoral Summer School on Advanced Black Hole Physics - Tales of Black Holes is the first edition of a summer school on black hole physics in Granada. We know that the universe contains very dark and compact objects known as black holes. The physics surrounding them is immensely rich, and Granada has top-level dedicated research groups and has the potential to become a hub in black hole physics.

The school will provide a comprehensive foundation in the theory, phenomenology, and observational aspects of black holes, while offering a broad perspective on current research trends. It will be hosted at the historic Carmen de la Victoria, located in the heart of the Albayzín, Granada’s old Arab quarter. Participants will be accommodated on a full-board basis in this picturesque setting. It offers numerous common areas that will encourage discussions during breaks, promoting academic and professional exchanges. This iconic landmark inspired Washington Irving’s renowned book, to which the school’s name pays tribute.

Target audience

The summer school is primarily aimed at PhD and Master’s students from both national and international institutions who are eager to deepen their understanding of black hole physics. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research through lectures delivered by renowned experts in the field. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive perspective, covering theoretical foundations, phenomenology, and observational aspects, making it an ideal setting for students looking to expand their knowledge and connect with leading researchers.
