The objective of GASM is to bring together researchers from a wide variety of disciplines who study the mathematics of shape generation in architecture and structural design. These two fields have experienced important advances thanks to discrete differential geometry and integrable systems. The conference will address the discretization of shapes, their constructive and mechanical properties, as well as methods for deforming these shapes while preserving these properties. Some of the topics of special interest include: the discretization of surfaces by means of quadratic planes with outstanding features, their kinematic or mechanical stiffness, the duality of shapes in all their variants, among others. This activity is part of both the Strategic Program of the María de Maeztu IMAG Unit and the MTM “Geometric Analysis” research project PID2023-150727NB-I00, which actively support the proposal. It is also a joint initiative of researchers from the IMAG and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos, and the French group of engineers and mathematicians THINkSHELL (https://thinkshell.fr/) of the Gustave Eiffel University, which gives it a marked international character. |
• Registration deadline: Until April 30, 2025
The congress website also includes the registration form, which is open until April 30, 2025, as well as the short talk application form (for young researchers) and the poster presentation application form (also April 30). The selection of proposals will be carried out by the scientific committee in early May.
• Event date: From May 20th to 23rd, 2025
The estimated number of attendees is expected to be around 50.
