Brief guide to the admissions process

Pre-register using the following online form:

  • IMPORTANT
    • The online form will ask you to provide an identity (ID) number. If you have previously attended the University of Granada, you must use the same ID number that you used during your previous studies. This will prevent an increase in registration fees due to the opening of a new academic record. Once you have registered, you can request to change your identity number if necessary.

Filling in the application for admission

This is done online using the URL provided in the pre-admission application. The documents to be attached online (.pdf) are:

  1. Application for admission to doctoral programmes. Available on the admissions website.
  2. ID card, passport, residence card or equivalent document.
  3. Curriculum.
  4. Copy of the Licenciatura (full undergraduate degree), Ingeniería (full undergraduate degree in Engineering), Arquitectura (full undergraduate degree in Architecture), Grado (Bachelor's Degree) or equivalent degree certificate..
    • You must also attach an official academic transcript detailing the courses or subjects you took in your degree programme. This transcript must include, at least, the name of each course, the academic year, grade and information on the grading system (maximum grade).
  5. Copy of the official postgraduate degree certificate. Official master's degree (or equivalent degree) or Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA).
    • You must also attach an official academic transcript detailing the courses or subjects you took in this degree programme. This transcript must include, at least, the name of each course, the academic year, grade and information on the grading system (maximum grade).
  6. Certificate of language proficiency (languages other than mother tongue).
    • For the Doctoral Programme in Language, Text and Context, students are required to have a C1 level in the language in which their doctoral thesis will be written, unless the language used is their mother tongue.
    • Language proficiency form for applicants to the Doctoral Programme in Language, Text and Context. To apply for this doctoral programme, you must complete this form.
  7. Supervision agreement
    • Download the template here.
    • Applicants who do not submit this document must attach a signed sworn statement explaining the reasons for not doing so.
  8. Other documents. Any other document that you consider relevant and that could not be included in the previous sections.

Additional documentation for specific cases

Additional documentation is required in the following cases:

  1. If you hold a Licenciatura (full undergraduate degree), Ingeniería (full undergraduate degree), Arquitectura (full undergraduate degree), Arquitectura Técnica (3-year undergraduate degree), Ingeniería Técnica (3-year undergraduate degree) or Diplomatura (3-year undergraduate degree) and your degree certificate has been issued by a Spanish university:
  2. For degrees obtained at universities outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):
    • Supporting documents must be diplomatically legalised or bear the Hague Apostille.
    • Certificate from the university where you completed your master's degree or equivalent qualification, indicating that the degree obtained gives access to doctoral studies in the issuing country.
  3. In the case of documents written in a language other than Spanish, English, Portuguese, French or Italian:
    • Sworn translation of the documents.

Communication of decisions

  • Successful and unsuccessful applicants will receive an email with the corresponding decision.
  • Applicants who submit a complaint will receive a personalised email with information on the decision taken.
