To submit an application for the Cotutelle, the student must be officially enrolled in a doctoral program.
In the case of doctoral students that are initially enrolled in a partner university with which the cotutelle is contemplated, the application for admission to a UGR doctoral program must state the intention to establish a possible cotutelle agreement.
The UGR thesis supervisor will submit the application through the specific procedure established on the Sede Electrónica.
If the application is accepted:
The students must include the cotutelle proposal in their Research Plan, along with its corresponding request for an adjunct professorship within the doctoral program of the thesis supervisor in the partner institution. They must also be officially enrolled as a doctoral student in the partner institution and meet the requirements demanded by that university.
Exceptionally, if the Research Plan has already been approved and it does not include a reference to the cotutelle, a modification of said Research Plan shall be requested through the Portal de Seguimiento Académico (CTU1 form), attaching the request for an adjunct professorship within the doctoral program from the thesis supervisor at the partner institution.
In the case of the doctoral students initially enrolled in a partner university, they will request for admission to the doctoral studies in the doctoral program of their interest, declaring its intention of conducting the thesis under cotutelle. Once accepted, the students will submit their Research Plan (or they will request for the recognition of the Research Plan originally defended) along with its corresponding request for an adjunct professorship within the doctoral program of the thesis supervisor at the partner institution.

Once the administrative negotiation of the cotutelle agreement has been completed with the partner university, and the document has been received duly signed by the supervisor and the doctoral student; the agreement will be sent for aprooval to the Doctoral Programme Academic Committee (CAD) where the doctoral thesis will be assigned, to Management Committee of the corresponding Doctoral School for subsequent ratification and finally to the Advisory Council for Doctoral Schools (CAED) for final approval.
