What is pre-registration?

Every academic year, the “Distrito Único Andaluz (DUA)” Committee for University Admissions in Andalusia publishes the Agreement establishing the admission procedure for master's degrees taught at Andalusian universities. The articles contained in this agreement describe the procedure.

To study an official master's degree at the University of Granada, you must fill in and submit the corresponding pre-registration form through the online application enabled by the Regional Government of Andalusia through the “Distrito Único Andaluz (DUA)” Platform:

The pre-registration process consists of three stages aimed at applicants holding a Spanish or foreign university degree that enables them to undertake the master's degrees they wish to apply for. The degree certificate must have been issued before the deadline of the corresponding stage.

Each applicant can only be allocated one place in one of the master's degree programmes that they applied for. Once you have been allocated a place, you will only appear on the waiting list for the master's degrees listed higher in your application, but not for those listed in a lower position. You will also not appear on the waiting list for a particular master's degree if you have withdrawn your application or if it has been rejected during a registration or reservation period. However, you can be admitted to two master's degree programmes if you have requested to study two at the same time and there are vacant places in at least one of the programmes of your application at the end of the third stage.

The results of each allocation period will be published on the “Distrito Único Andaluz (DUA)” Platform (the same website where you must submit your pre-registration application). You will be able to check your status on each allocation period using the key that you obtain when you submit your application.

Issues and contact

Your application will be reviewed by your first choice university. Please contact that university for any issues or doubts regarding your pre-registration.

Please remember that any academic questions regarding our master's degrees must be addressed to the corresponding coordinators. You will find the contact details of each coordinator on the corresponding master’s degree website.

Help guide

IF YOU HAVE NOT APPLIED FOR A MASTER'S DEGREE THROUGH THE PRE-REGISTRATION SYSTEM WITHIN THE PERIODS ESTABLISHED BY THE “DISTRITO ÚNICO ANDALUZ (DUA)” PLATFORM:

In November, you can apply for a place on a master's degree programme if such programme has vacant places after all stages of pre-registration have ended. To do so, you must contact the corresponding master's degree coordinator in order to obtain a letter of acceptance. You must then submit this letter to the International School for Postgraduate Studies (EIP) together with a copy of your identity card and entrance qualification, and indicating your phone number and email address.

What documents do you need to provide with your application?

You must submit all the necessary documents to support your academic status, along with any other documentation that may be required depending on the master's degrees of your application. You do not need to provide any documentation that the “Distrito Único Andaluz (DUA)” Committee for University Admissions may already have in electronic format. The online application will indicate you which specific documents you need to attach. The computer system will provide for the incorporation of various electronic formats, including at least the PDF format.

Once you have completed the application process, a document notifying you that your application has been successfully submitted will automatically appear online. A copy of this notification will also be sent to the email address provided by you in your application form.

You can only submit one application form, which will be valid for all Andalusian public universities. Likewise, you must place the master's degree programmes to which you are applying in order of preference. You can modify this form during each application stage; however, doing so will thereby nullify the previous application form (it will effectively be substituted by the new, modified application form).

Later on, at the time of registration or whenever the UGR requests it, all of the documents submitted online will be requested from you (both the originals and photocopies of the originals).

All the documentation requested in these sections must also be accompanied, where required, by translations into Spanish. Depending on the specific country in which these documents were issued and its signed agreements, we may also request that these documents be legalised at the time of registration.

General guidelines

Along with the online application form, applicants must submit the documents listed below if requested by the online system. In the case of foreign applicants, all references made to a DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad) should be interpreted as referring to your Foreign National Identification Number (NIE) or passport.

Once you have completed the registration process, you must provide us with all of the documents submitted online (both the originals and photocopies of the originals), including your DNI (original and a copy of both sides), for comparison.

Please provide us with the following documents depending on your situation:

Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree (graduado/a), a full undergraduate degree (licenciado/a), a full undergraduate degree in Architecture (arquitecto/a) or Engineering (ingeniero/a), a 3-year undergraduate degree (diplomado/a), a 3-year undergraduate degree holder in Architecture (arquitecto/a técnico/a), Engineering (ingeniero/a técnico/a) or primary teacher training (maestro/a), or another degree expressly declared equivalent:

  • NIE or passport.
  • Degree certificate (final or provisional) or a certificate of recognition.
  • Certified official academic transcript showing the marks obtained and the duration of each course of your degree (expressed in credits), including your undergraduate or final year dissertation if applicable. This transcript must also specify the type of courses taken (basic, core, compulsory, elective, free-elective, work placement) and the total teaching load of the degree programme you took. If the transcript you provide does not meet these requirements, we will assume that you achieved an overall “Pass” grade.
  • If the degree certificate you provide corresponds to a second cycle programme which is not a direct continuation of the first cycle programme you studied, you must also attach the academic transcript of your first cycle.

Applicants with degrees from universities within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) (the degree entitles you to apply to a master’s degree in the country in which it was issued):

  • NIE, certificate of residence, national identity card issued by an EU member state or passport.
  • If applicable, proof of having been awarded a student grant.
  • Degree certificate or document indicating successful attainment of the degree if your certificate has not yet been issued by your university.
  • With the purpose of converting the grade point average of your academic transcript to the Spanish system, you must also provide:
- Academic transcript indicating the marks you obtained in the courses on your degree and their duration (expressed either in terms of credits or months), including if applicable your undergraduate or final year dissertation. This academic transcript must also indicate your grade point average.
- An official document issued in the country where the degree was awarded indicating the minimum mark required to pass a course and the maximum mark obtainable.
If either of these documents are not submitted, we will assume that you achieved an overall “Pass” grade.

All the documentation requested in this section may also be required to be accompanied by translations into Spanish.

Please note that you must present the originals of these documents to the International School for Postgraduate Studies when you come to Spain to study your master's degree.

Applicants with foreign degrees not recognised in Spain as equivalents of Spanish degrees, but which allow you to apply to postgraduate studies in the country in which the degree was issued:

  • NIE, certificate of residence, national identity card issued by an EU member state or passport.
  • If applicable, proof of having been awarded a student grant.
  • Degree certificate.
  • A document issued by an official body from the country where the degree was awarded indicating that the degree entitles the holder to access postgraduate studies.

When you formally complete your application form, all the documentation requested in this section must also be accompanied, where required, by translations into Spanish.

During the registration period or when requested by the International School for Postgraduate Studies, the original documents and photocopies of these originals must be presented to the EIP. If required, these documents must also be diplomatically legalised, or accompanied by Hague Apostilles and/or corresponding sworn translations into Spanish.

Specific guidelines

Applicants may be required to provide additional documents in PDF format to support any specific entry requirements stipulated by the master's degree of their choice. Please visit the following webpage during the application period to check if any additional entry requirements are applicable:

Specific documents submitted in a foreign language must also be accompanied by sworn translations into Spanish.

Studying more than one degree

If you wish to study more than one official degree programme, you will be allocated a second degree after the third stage, once we have reviewed the applications of all candidates who only wish to study one degree and only if there are vacant places in any of the degrees you have applied for. However, the following must be taken into account:

a) If you apply to start studying two master's degrees at the same time, you will be assigned your first master's degree based on your preference order, and we will process your application for a second master's degree in the last allocation period (if there are any vacant places).

b) If you have already registered for another university programme and you apply to start studying a master's degree at the same time, your application will be processed in the third stage. At this point, you will be allocated the master's degree that is listed higher on your application and that still has vacant places left.

c) If you apply to start studying a master's degree and another type of degree programme at the same time, you must list both programmes in order of preference. If you are allocated a place on your first preference programme, your application for the second programme will be processed at the end of the admission procedure if there are still any places available.

Fees

All fees charged by the University of Granada for the provision of services for master's and doctoral degree programmes are established by the Decree of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Knowledge, Enterprise and Universities (CECEU) of Andalusia. This decree is published every academic year.
