What is an appeal?

You can find more information about appeals on the website of the Student Council (DGE).

How can I lodge an appeal?

You can lodge an appeal at the University General Register Office or at other auxiliary register offices. However, to make the administrative process as quick and easy as possible, we recommend submitting the documentation through the UGR Electronic Register:

  • Read this website. Afterwards, you can use the option “Sin certificado digital” (Without digital certificate).

  • You must complete each section in the form and attach all the documents you deem appropriate.

What documents are required?

In addition to the fully completed application form, we recommend that you submit any documents supporting your claims against the decision that has affected your doctoral academic record. For instance:

1. Receipt of payment of the tuition fee, if your registration has been cancelled due to non-payment of the tuition fees.

2. Monitoring report of the corresponding academic year, if you did not submit this report within the established period.

3. Doctoral thesis proposal, if you did not submit this proposal in the first year of your doctoral study period.

4. If you did not submit your doctoral thesis within the standard period of study, you will have to apply for an extension of this period depending on the current status of your academic record: regular extension, special extension or temporary leave (informative website on the duration of doctoral studies). You will have to attach a report from your thesis supervisor indicating the progress of your doctoral thesis and the approximate date of the defence.

4. Any other report that supports your claims.

How will the appeal be processed?

Once received, it will be included in the “Solicitudes” (Applications) section of your Academic Monitoring Portal and forwarded to your doctoral programme so that they can issue the corresponding report.

Upon receipt of this report, the relevant body will take a decision and you will be informed accordingly.
