Description of the activity

International Doctoral Summer School - CIMCYC 2024 This Doctoral Summer School is a five-day event where leading scholars will address the theoretical and empirical relevance of representations in the field of computational and cognitive neuroscience. Despite its ancient roots in Philosophy of the Mind, the concept of representations has been recently appointed as a potential bridge across different branches of the cognitive sciences, from Experimental Psychology to Computer Science. However, their full potential and, importantly, their caveats and limitations are not always immediately evident for early career researchers.

This fully in-person Summer School aims to provide doctoral candidates a fundamental introduction to critical research questions and analytical tools in the study of representations. The notion of representations is commonly used across a wide array of disciplines related to cognitive neuroscience.

Target audience

It is designed for doctoral candidates and early career postdocs interested in or already working on the concept of representation from either psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, computer science, or biology.

Date

From September 4th to September 7th, 2024.
