Doctoral Schools

The University of Granada offers doctoral programmes adapted to the European Higher Education Area, grouped into three Doctoral Schools:

These Doctoral Schools, regulated by the UGR Regulations on Official Doctoral Studies and Doctoral Degree Certificates, were approved by the Governing Council of the University of Granada in its session of 2 May 2012. Each School is run by its corresponding Management Committee, following the calendar of sessions published regularly on its website. These Management Committees operate independently and have their own regulatory capacity in aspects related to the organisation of their corresponding doctoral programmes, the procedures and rules for lecturers and students, etc. All these committees are coordinated by the Advisory Council for Doctoral Schools (CAED).

Processing of applications

  • The Management Committees of the Doctoral Schools will decide on applications and matters that have previously been approved or reported on by the Academic Committee of the corresponding doctoral programme.
  • Any requests for approvals or reports must be submitted to the International School for Postgraduate Studies (EIP) at least 15 days before a meeting of the corresponding Management Committee.
  • If you wish to defend your doctoral thesis within two years of your admission to the programme, you must apply for an exemption through the Academic Monitoring Portal for Doctoral Students (with the approval of your tutor and thesis supervisor) before presenting the application for submission of your thesis to your programme's Academic Committee. Your doctoral thesis submission will not be accepted until you have been informed of the decision taken by the Management Committee of your corresponding doctoral school. Therefore, keep in mind that the two-year exemption and the thesis submission cannot be approved at the same committee meeting.
  • Check the meeting dates of your Management Committee:
